Mesange Bleue, Savoie

Mesange Bleue

On a recent visit to France for Christmas I was treated by nice flocks of chickadees in Alsace and in the mountains of Savoie. Generally in mixed flocks with other Chickadees (Mesange Charbonniere, Mesange a Longue Queue) and small birds such as nuthatches, occasional Rougegorges, and the usual English Sparrows, these little creatures liven up the otherwise dreary grey northern European winter landscape. These two photos are taken on a lovely sunny morning in the alpine ski resort of Meribel.
