Niverolle

This cousin of the obnoxious English Sparrow is an interesting alpine resident, typically found between 2000 and 3500 meters elevation, occasionally as high as 5000m! On the high Saulire at 2700m this little guy posed for a number of great photos while trying to ferrit out crumbs left over from a group skiers who just finished their lunch. The photo of the bird in flight, (a bit fuzzy, but when a bird flies one dosnt always have time to focus, I am happy the shot turned out as well as it did!) reveals its brillant white and black plumage.
